REPORTS

CARJACKING ATTEMPT, 2022-09190006, Boundary Channel Drive at I-395. At around 12:18 p.m. on September 19, police were dispatched to report an attempted carjacking. Upon arrival, the female victim was determined to be driving on the ramp of I-395 northbound from Boundary Channel Drive when the unknown male suspect approached the median on foot. The male suspect allegedly started banging on the victim’s windshield and asked him to get out of his vehicle holding an unknown object. The victim exited his vehicle and ran down the ramp. The suspect then entered the victim’s vehicle but was unable to operate it. While officers were at the scene, another victim contacted the emergency communications center to report an attempted carjacking. The male victim said he was traveling on the ramp of I-395 northbound from Boundary Channel Drive when a suspect matching the description given by the first victim jumped in front of his vehicle, banged on the hood and demanded that he get out of the vehicle. The victim accelerated his vehicle, made contact with the suspect and left the scene before contacting the police. The suspect was last seen crossing I-395 toward the George Washington Memorial Parkway exit. A perimeter was established and a lookout was broadcast for the suspect. Police helicopters participated in a search of the area which yielded negative results. The victims were not injured. The suspect is described as a thin-built white male, approximately 30 years old, 6’0” tall, with black brush-cut hair, wearing a short-sleeved white shirt and dark pants . The investigation is ongoing.

BANK ROBBERY, 2022-09160150, 2500 block of Wilson Blvd. At around 3:20 p.m. on September 16, police were dispatched to report that an armed robbery had just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the unknown male suspect entered the bank, approached a teller, implied he had a weapon and demanded cash. The suspect then fled with an undisclosed sum of cash. No weapons were seen or displayed and no injuries were reported. The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, approximately 40-60 years old, 5’04”, 180 lbs, wearing a black and white hat, dark glasses, black mask, button down shirt with sleeves light gray long shirts, black pants and dark shoes, carrying a bag of groceries The investigation is ongoing.

HEIST, 2022-09180016, 2200 block of N. Westmoreland St. At around 12:46 a.m. on September 18, police were dispatched to report a robbery in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 12:43 p.m. the suspect entered the closed business through an unsecured door and stole an undisclosed sum of cash from the cash register before fleeing on foot. A lookout was broadcast and officers located the suspect in the area of ​​Langston Boulevard at Fairfax Drive and arrested him without incident. Derrick Fields, 48, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with burglary and public intoxication. He was held without bail.
